Organizational Profile
Company website: www.firstjobinsports.com
The mission of this company is to connect students with internships and first time jobs in the sports industry. As some of us may have learned looking for an internship or job in sports its not always that easy. This company just offers begining jobs and internships in the industry, unlike the company's main competitors. Many of the competitors offer lots of employment options but these jobs are often reserved for someone with 4+ years of experience. Many times a job just has to be offered to the public but the position for all intensive purposes has been filled. Firstjobinsports.com will only post jobs that require 3 years or less of experience. First Job in Sports also provides a detailed contact sheet for numerous people in sports markets throughout the world that list the names, emails, addresses, phone numbers, and companies. The company was started just to help out college students find work but they have expanded to a couple other areas. This all began because the founder, Brad Freeman, had a very difficult time getting into the sports industry after he finished college and wanted to make finding employment easier others. His company now offers employment opportunities for internships, recreation, volunteering, professional, and college sports. The business is currently developing a new website, for jobseekers and employers, and I have been given the opportunity to help out. The new website will offer underwriting services and resume help. I will be making suggestions on the development and design of new site after researching several of the competitors sites. There is also a lot of locating internships and jobs and posted them to the website to keep it current. Since this is a virtual internship I have never met the owner Brett Cooper but we have spoken on the phone several times and connect numerous times a day through email. Soon they plan on doing sales and I hope I will be helping with that aspect of the business too.
